The Passmark lock-in risk (even after open source)
Bug0 has published Passmark's source under a source-available license. That is better than a closed black box — but it does not make your suite portable the way standard Playwright does. Managed tests are authored against Bug0's Passmark API and still depend on the passmark package to execute. Leaving Bug0 means carrying a vendor-tied runtime (or rewriting). That is vendor lock-in of a sort, and it is a material TCO factor the $2,500/mo headline does not price in.
Guardian writes standard Playwright TypeScript with zero vendor packages. You own every line and can run it independently today, tomorrow, and with any vendor.
